How do I adjust the Jippie's hearing protector?
When you unpack the hearing protector, it is completely folded. First you push the shells down, out of the headband. Then grab the shell firmly with one hand and slowly pull the legs upwards with the other hand. The hearing protector becomes almost 3 times as large. Then place the hearing protector on the child's head and slowly press the leg down again, until the hearing protector is comfortable.
When you are not using the hearing protector, you can fold it up again and store it.

What attenuation does the Jippie's hearing protection have?
Sounds from 80 decibels (db) can be harmful to your hearing. Sounds from 120 decibels can directly damage your hearing. To give you an idea: when we talk to each other we produce 60 decibels, noise in the schoolyard is 85 decibels, listening to music on headphones is 95 decibels, a concert produces 110 decibels and fireworks are even 140 decibels. Now not only the number of decibels is important, but also the duration in which you have to deal with it. The higher the number of decibels, the shorter you have to deal with it. An example: sound of 80 decibels can be heard 'safely' for 8 hours a day. Every 3 decibels is a doubling of the noise, making 83 decibels safe for only 4 hours a day, 86 decibels for only 2 hours a day, etc.
